To the best in the world

Students from Anatolia College's "Anemos" group speak at "MTK"

Students from Anatolia College's Anemos team talk to MTK about the formula they have created, their successes, their awards and their preparation for the World Finals to be held in Abu Dhabi on November 24, officially the Greek team on the list of the best in the world, proving that dreams can be fulfilled.

Behind the success

Qualifying for the F1 in Schools World Finals as students explain came through a lot of hard work and persistence in the goal. "Qualification, which came after a lot of effort, is for me a confirmation of the value of perseverance and commitment to a goal, but also a tremendous opportunity to prove the value of our ideas and projects on an even greater level.

Of course, running just before the Formula 1 Grand Prix is a life-affirming opportunity, as I will be able to admire my favorite sport, and perhaps meet some of the best drivers in the world. At a team level, just being involved in such a multifaceted and interesting project is the motivation that drives us forward and, of course, is the best opportunity for us all to come closer together through our joint effort, to get to know each other better and to be unique. shared experiences ”says Panos Gotsis.

For Aris Koutsopoulos, success lies in good co-operation and the enjoyment of this unique journey by the six students. "In my opinion this success is due to the very good cooperation between us and the fact that we are really having fun participating in this competition. We feel no pressure or obligation to participate, but only towards our partners. Still, all team members may have initially chosen to participate in the competition for different reasons - such as developing skills, general experience or acquiring knowledge - but then the ultimate goal of all of us is winning, because it fully satisfies the initial desire whatever it is "as he explains.

Passionate students

Asimina Lazaridou is the only female presence on the team and is preparing for the World Finals and the trip to Abu Dhabi along with the rest of the students. She talks about the sacrifices required to succeed and the benefits she gained from joining Anemos Racing.

"Whatever sacrifices were needed for the creation or smooth running of our team, of course we enthusiastically accepted them because we put our team and our participation above all this time. Each member sacrificed something special - participation in theatrical performances, sports training, language tests, excursions with his classmates. And all this to make a dream come true to compete with the best in the world. Every moment on this journey is important and unique. Through this journey we learned many things about each of them in their field, how to be patient, how to accept the opinion of all our partners, and above all how to be a team and work together.

"In the age we live in, with the rise of STEM, such a competition attracts passionate students to Science and Technology and offers them an unforgettable experience. The main skills I have practiced and developed are my time management, the use of design software, finding and securing resources, working under pressure, and getting in touch with professionals in different areas I needed to approach, attract and persuade. to support them in achieving my goals. The competition also showed me what I'm capable of doing and how the world of F1 and other businesses works. Thanks to this involvement I have discovered my limits and some skills that will follow me throughout my life, "says Panagiotis Papanastassiou, of how he feels about joining the Anemos team.

Life experience

"For me, joining the team this year marks the continuation of another beautiful journey to the 'F1 in Schools' competition, this time around the world. It is an ideal opportunity to meet and collaborate with people and children from a separate school in Thessaloniki; clearly younger children, whose dreams and passion for this journey exceeds all expectations. For me it is definitely a life experience worth fighting for and whose skills, skills (technical or communicative) and memory will always accompany you, ”says Constantinos Karabinos, for his team membership but also for his own personal goals.

Andreas Kalyvas is one of the team's experienced, as his course in STEM competitions is multi-year and comes with significant distinctions. This year, as a student now, as he tells MTK, "we decided with my two good friends to form the Aether team and under our own terms, having the knowledge to try something difficult for a team of 3 people, qualifying for the World Championship, something we achieved in May after months of work. Now, as the 'Anemos' collaboration team, we are aiming even higher, since we believe that harmonious collaboration and the mix of experience and youthful passion is the perfect recipe for success. Because of the distances, the exams, the academic pursuits, the course has not always been smooth to be completely honest, but the will goes beyond any obstacle,

The 'F1 in Schools' competition

The Anatolian Racers Gymnastics team has qualified for the World Finals to be held in Abu Dhabi on November 24-27, 2019, as a co-operation team. It is a standard application of the STEM concept in education, namely the unified approach of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, which at the same time promotes youth entrepreneurship. A six-member group of children, with distinct roles, analogous to those of F1, who form a model of an F1 car, are formed after studying and analyzing the principles of physics that apply.
